This month marks the start of Florida’s hurricane season, and with any natural disaster, having the right insurance coverage is key. We hope the coming storms don’t affect any of our customers, but we want to help prepare each of you, just in case.

Ask yourself these insurance questions:

  • Are your car, boat and home insurance paid? We know life gets busy, but remaining on top of payments is the only way your assets are 100 percent protected.

  • Do you have flood insurance? No home insurance policy provides flood insurance, so make sure you have that additional coverage. Please note that there is a 30-day waiting period for flood insurance to become effective, so prepare before the waters rise.

  • Do you have comprehensive car insurance? This type of insurance is the only kind that will cover natural disasters.

We want you to be as protected as possible in the aftermath of a hurricane by having the right insurance coverage, but we also want you to be prepared before disaster strikes.

Prepare these practical items:

  • Non-perishable foods and gallons of fresh water (don’t forget a manual can opener!)

  • Flashlight and extra batteries.

  • First-aid kit.

  • Extra cash. If the power goes out, stores won’t be able to accept credit cards.

  • A video or photos of your valuable items. This protects you if they are destroyed and you need to file a claim.

The CDC has some additional tips on hurricane preparedness, as well as a step-by-step guide to making a plan. But, as always, be prepared with this right insurance coverage this season with the help of Darr-Schackow Insurance. Call us today!
